Healthy Eating Habits
Friday, June 10, 2011 at 11:28AM To read the first lady's checklist for promoting healthy eating habits for children at childcare facilities, click the photo for full article. It is a good BASIC reminder:
- Provide one to two hours of physical activity daily
- No screen time for children under 2...
- Serve fruits and vegetables at every meal, eat family-style when possible, and no fried foods
- Provide access to water throughout the day, and do not serve sugary drinks
- Support mothers who want to breastfeed by providing mother's milk to infants and welcoming mothers who want to breastfeed their children during the childcare day

Healthy Pancake recipe kids love.
Prepare the pan with oil for pancakes. Just lightly grease the pan and heat to medium.
In a blender put 2 cups of rolled oats
1 cup of blanched almonds
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 carrot.
Blend into a flour.
In a bowl put 1 banana ( mash with a fork)
1 cup milk ( soy or almond or cows)
1 Tbs Maple syrup
1 Tbs olive oil
Add the flour mixture to the bowl with the banana mixture in it.
Blend until like a pancake batter.
Drop Tbs of batter into heated pan and brown.
Flip the pancake and brown on the other side.
Enjoy with maple syrup.
for a more fruity syrup add strawberry jelly to maple syrup or fresh strawberries. ( other berries also work)
What a great recipe, Deborah! Thanks for sharing!
